Astrology – Mahadashas

Till now we have seen how planets influences our personality, our work, our family life, our happiness but now let us try and understand when these planets affect. To understand that we need to understand planetary periods or graha dashas. The main period is called Maha – Dasha (or Dasha), sub period is called Antar Dasha ( or Bhukti) and sub sub period is called pratyantra dasha. Depending on the position of a particular planet by its house, placement, aspection, nature – good and bad results can be predicted during the dasha of that planet.

In India there are total of 43 dasha system however only 2 dasha system has remained popular viz Ashottari(108 years) and Vimshottari(120 years). Out of these Vimshottari is the most popular dasha system. In the 120 years each planet is allotted time period and that time period the person goes through antar of all the other planets starting from the planet whose Mahadasha has become. Eg: If it is Sun Mahadasha then the first antar dasha would be Sun followed by Moon, Mars, Rahu, Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury, Ketu, Venus. The line up of planets is similar to the line up we spoke about in Chapter on Zodiac signs and Constellations. Similarly if it is Ketu Mahadasha the first antar dasha would be Ketu then Venus, Sun, Moon, Mars, Rahu, Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury.

Planets                                 Mahadasha Period

Ketu                                      7 years

Venus                                   20 years

Sun                                        6 years

Moon                                    10 years

Mars                                      7 years

Rahu                                      18 years

Jupiter                                  16 years

Saturn                                   19 years

Mercury                               17 years

How to determine in which Mahadasha a person is born

For this Moon Sign or Nakshatra comes into play. Depending on which Nakshatra a person is born. The ruling planet of that Nakshatra becomes the Starting Mahadasha of the person. Now we know each Nakshatra is allotted 13deg 20mins, depending on moon position in the nakshatra the years remaining in the Mahadasha is decided. For eg: A person born in Ashwini Nakshatra when the Moon is in Aries the Mahadasha the person is born in will be Ketu as Ashwini is ruled by Ketu. Out of the 7 years how many years of Ketu Mahadasha is remaining will depend on the position of Moon in Ashwini Nakshatra. If it has just entered Ashwini Nakshatra then the person will have to go through full 7 years of Ketu Mahadasha. If it is almost at the end of Ashwini then maybe few months of Ketu Mahadasha will be remaining before Venus Mahadasha starts. Lets take a look at another example a person is born with Moon in Leo at 20deg. That means the person is born in Poorvaphalguni Nakshatra at 6deg 40mins. So the moon has travelled almost to the half point of Poorvaphalguni Nakshatra. This Nakshatra is ruled by Venus whose Mahadasha is for 20 years. So we can easily say that person is born with around 10 years of Venus Mahadasha remaining.

A little about the mentor:
Astroarchitecture is a science pioneered by Neeta Sinha “the lady behind all the starry homes” It is a science like Vaastu used to heal home, office or any other premise. But unlike Vaastu it is very specific and does not require any structural changes
